VODA (Volunteers for Disability Awareness) Project

Activities The Secretariat launched “VODA (Volunteers for Disability Awareness)” Project in 2019 for the first time in Korea as a governmental project to call for volunteers with disabilities. After a training program of 5 days in Korea, 9 members (7 with disabilities, 2 without disabilities) were dispatched to Phnom Penh, Cambodia for 9 days (Oct. 31 ~ Nov. 9, 2019). They provided 8 times of lectures to raise awareness on disability to the local people (218 people in total) at three different places: Royal University of Phnom Penh Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Center (RUPP-CKCC); Banteay Prieb; and PWDF (Persons with Disabilities Foundation).

Preparation for Korea Center for International Disability Rights

Activities After the end of the Third Asian and Pacific Decade on Persons with Disabilities (2023-2022), the Secretariat is preparing to promote the Post-Incheon Strategy Projects and establish the Korea Center for International Disability Rights to serve as a control tower for international cooperation projects in the field of disability in the Asia-Pacific region. To this end, an International Seminar Room with audio visual system including LED large-scale displays was established at KODDI in December 2023, and a Preparatory Group for the Korea Center for International Disability Rights was launched in January 2024.
